Gudrun Ebeling

Gudrun Ebeling_edited.jpg

Gudrun Ebeling is a portrait artist whose lifelong fascination with faces and human expression began in childhood, inspired by the great masters of the Renaissance. At the age of 14 she painted her first portrait, encouraged by a teacher who nurtured her talent. Early experiences in theatre costume design deepened her interest in how appearance and transformation shape identity. Over time, these impressions evolved into a dedicated artistic path, with portraiture becoming the central focus of her work.

Her art is rooted in realism, yet guided by sensitivity and empathy. Having worked for many years in healthcare and therapy, Gudrun encountered people at their most vulnerable moments, experiences that continue to inform her painterly approach. Every portrait she creates is not only a likeness, but also a reflection of the subject’s emotional and inner life. Strength, fragility, and individuality are revealed through the subtle play of light, expression, and detail.
