Daniel Weber-Carocari
"The stone speaks too – and shows me its limits."
Daniel Weber-Carocari is a Swiss-based sculptor living and working in Meggen, Lucerne. He creates sculptures from Talcus stone, shaping the material through filing, sanding and oiling into tactile, sensual forms that retain the natural character and strength of the stone.
A recurring element in his work is the opening within the sculpture. For Daniel, it represents openness and perspective, allowing the viewer not only to look at the work itself, but also through it and beyond. This contrast between the solidity of stone and a sense of permeability and lightness is central to his artistic language.
His process is slow and intuitive. He allows each stone time to reveal its possibilities before developing the final form, responding to the material rather than forcing it. After many hours of filing, sanding and oiling, the individual colour and structure of each piece gradually emerge.
